A
TREAT FOR A TOP FLIGHT
by Marcie McLure
Hi. My name is Stosh. I am
17 months old and live in New Bern, NC with my mom and dad. My dad
takes me for walks on the golf course behind our house. He was
always finding these white things and he seemed to like them.
One day I was in the yard with dad and one came rolling into the
yard right by me! I thought this is even easier and I grabbed it.
Dad heard the two men talking and the one said "where did my
ball go"? The other guy said that black dog has it. Dad made me
give it back, but I don't know why, because they were definitely out
of bounds and they aren't supposed to come into the yard to get it.
But I did give it to the guy.
Usually, I have given them away to our friends, but last week I sold
my first two dozen. Dad said he would buy me more treats with the
money. I figure $4.00 a dozen is fair. After all, dad cleans them
all up and we sort them and most look BRAND new. These golfers
aren't the best in the world you know! Sometimes I watch them from
the window and KNOW when I will have a good night.
So I have a new job. I figure my income from this will be more than
most dogs make! I may not win ribbons or trophies, but I am well
known as the golf ball hunting dog.
If anyone wants some balls, just call my dad. I feel sure we have
whatever brand you want and we have lots with pictures on them too.
Dad calls them LOGOS. Well, I gotta run now. It will soon be time to
get dad moving, so we can go hunting.
Wish me luck!
