ARBA Ch. Beach Hills' Lionheart (Ramsey)
May 9, 1994 – October 21, 2003
It is with sadness in our hearts that
we announce the passing of Ramsey, who was a direct descendant of our
original U.S. founding stock. He was one of the first blue-gray Cesky
Terriers to obtain a conformation title. Ramsey won breed awards from
puppy classes through veteran classes.
He was always popular at shows, in
our neighborhood and with people he met. He became a good friend to many
residents of the local nursing home where my grandmother lived her final
years. A friend to so many, he will be missed dearly. As Ramsey's spirit
crosses over the Rainbow Bridge to join other members of his canine and
human family, may his zest for living life his way -- like a Cesky
Terrier with a true terrier personality -- remain with all of us.

"Ch.
WeeToons Jespah"
December
17, 1997 - February 5, 2004
Jespah was the 2nd
pup born in a litter of 4... even then he was trouble. Born not
breathing and requiring resuscitation by this nervous, first-time,
doggie midwife. Black as coal, with eyes that spoke of mischievous deeds
to come. I still laugh when I see his puppy picture in the book "Earthdog
Ins and Outs," ironically cited as an example of how Cesky pups
are born black and later turn grey. To his last day he remained black as
the night. A true "Dennis the Menace" in a dog suit, he was at
once exasperating and endearing.
I could speak of his successful show career, but that seems distant and
somehow unimportant now. What is important is that he was best friend to
his human brother Scott, devoted son to his Cesky mom Elsa, favorite
playmate of Muzzy the Doberman and Furby the cat. Jes.. you were a
trusting soul with a loyal heart, a perpetual puppy with a silly,
playful nature and a tail that never quit. You drove us crazy, you made
us laugh, and you loved us dearly. We will remember you always with
love.

Minimeadow Kenwood Carly
May 24, 1994 – January 3, 2000
Carly was only with us for one year, but what a happy year it was.
She had many endearing quirks, and was truly the sweetest dog I have ever
owned. Her tail wagged whenever I spoke to her, and she loved to
"talk" and carry on conversations with me.
Throughout the course
of her illness she continued her good-natured tolerance of her pesky grandson,
who always wanted her to play with him. She will always be
missed and can never be replaced.
Thanks to Ken and Mary
Lewis for allowing Carly to spend her last year with us.
Love,
Sandy and Matt

Nina ("Nina")
May 15, 1990 – July 8, 1997
My
Dear Nina,
When I rescued you I had no idea what a Cesky was. You were just a
cute, little 8 mo. old pup, scared of everything. You spent the first months I had you looking out from under my bed. You became such a brave girl, getting your CGC and becoming Certif.Therapy Dog.
You gave so much love to all who come into contact with you. Orfe your Dad still misses you along with Holly,
Tippy, Page. You showed us all how to love and have fun. You were the food hound in the family and I'll always remember your cute little dance when you wanted a treat.
I wish you could have stayed longer, but cancer took you away. I know you are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for all of us.
Love to my Angel from Mom and your CT
gang,
Barbara

WeeToons Sarabi
Dec 17, 1997 - Feb 2, 2000
Dear Sara (aka Sally),
We watched you come into this world, little white back feet first, so it is especially difficult to lose you so soon. You were Scott's favorite puppy and I will never forget how you wriggled with joy when he came home from school, or his giggles as you gave him his barrage of "welcome home kisses." Although your time here was short, the love you gave us will last a lifetime and
we thank you for the special memories.
Thanks also to Peggy and Duben for taking you in when you needed them most and giving you the family and love you so deserved.
We know they miss you too.
Love, Deb
, Scott, Elsa and Jespah

"Chester"
Ch. Chlap Lovu Zdar
Feb
10, 1995 - Feb 25, 2000
Although
Chester's life was far too short, it was certainly full. Bred by
Mr. Horak himself, Chester earned 24 Champion Titles in his lifetime,
including 7 N. American Club Championships, Int'l Champion (FCI), 2 R.
World Champions, R. Winner Veltrusy, as well as holding championships in
Brussels, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Netherlands,
Belgium and France and winning 5 Best In Shows.
In
addition to his fabulous career as a show dog, Chester was the treasured
friend of owner Katherine Eckstrom, who will miss him more than words
can express.
"To
lose this beloved dog has really been too much to bear. My life
will never be the same..."

"Godfrey"
SKC & CTCA Ch. De Schalkjes Godfried
October 1986 - August 2000
Ch. De
Schalkjes Godfried was among the first Cesky Terriers to arrive in
the United States. He was imported from DeSchalkjes Kennel in
Holland in October of 1987 and came to me in December of 1987.
Godfrey had a wonderful
show career. Before arriving in the US, he earned his German Youth
Championship with five certificates that rated him
"Excellent." Here in the US, Godfrey earned both his
CTCA and States Kennel Club (SKC) championships, with numerous Group wins and
placements. He won
a Best In Show from the classes at the 1990 Ohio Rare Breed Dog Show to
complete his CTCA Championship. Godfrey holds the distinction of
being the first Cesky Terrier to earn an SKC Championship. He was
also the Best Of Breed Winner at the 1991 Tournament of Champions.
In addition to his
notable show career, Godfrey sired several lovely litters in the US and
in Europe, and has a number of Champion children and grandchildren to
his credit.
In his almost 14 years,
Godfrey certainly made his mark on Cesky Terrier history. We
celebrate his life and contribution to the breed, and mourn his loss.

"Beau"
May 31, 2000 - September
31 2000
My puppy Beau died very
suddenly from a rare virus. I miss him terribly. We only had
him with us for six weeks, but it felt as though he had always been with
us. He was my little pal--so much fun--and I loved him
dearly. He meant so much to me and always will.

"BEAR"
My name is Penny Green and I had
the extreme pleasure of knowing the most wonderfully loving Cesky
named Bear. We called him *Da B*. He belonged to some
very close friends.
He died very suddenly from a tumor
in his lungs which produced an embolism that went to his brain. He was
only about 7 yrs old.
He was the sweetest, most loving
dog I have ever known. He was like a bull in china shop always
running to get his ball...crashing in to tables, falling off couches
while sleeping...the most endearing and sweet boy.
I attached a pic of Da B here to
post on your site. I would love to see him up there with all
the other wonderful Ceskys.
Thank you so much for your
inspiring web sites...they brought back the warmest memories of Da
B.

"Sammy"
This is probably a most unusual tribute and
a most odd story of about a dear pet. We live in a small town in Virginia that
has a small shopping center. In that shopping center lived a most unusual, but
sweet dog. We did not know who could have been so cruel to have put the puppy
out to fend for itself. We could not idly stand by to see the puppy go hungry,
go wet, and go cold. Although he was totally unkempt, he was a most beautiful
dog.
For ten months, we fed him every night and
we tried in vain to capture the little dog. We used every trick in the book;
but, he would not allow us to catch him. We even notified the county animal
control to assist us. They actually laughed and wished us luck as they had been
trying to catch him for over a year and a half. They told us that they had used
everything in their arsenal, including a net gun, to get the little
soul.
We have a female schnauzer that dearly
loved him and he loved her too. They would actually nuzzle and attempt to
kiss. Although he lived in the wild and she was tame, they would actually share
each other's food. One night, Sammy, that's what we called him, held a doggie
treat in his mouth for her to bite off. They would frolic and play together for
an hour, or so, each evening.
We learned the verified story of how he had
jumped out of car at a local service station never to be caught by his true
mistress or anyone else for that matter. He chose to live alone in the woods at
the shopping center for over three years. In that time, he became somewhat of a
celebrity. Yet, for some reason, he responded to us the most and you could
clearly see in his loving eyes that he did love us.
Only recently, did we learn that the little
dog was a Cesky. Sadly, we do not possess any photographs of him.
Regardless, learning that he was a Cesky was too late in coming. For on
Saturday, February 08, 2003, we found in him in the main highway just after
having been hit by a car. We could not save him. We finally brought him home
where he now lays in peace.
We'll miss him terribly even though he
never allowed us to take him in. He was still our loving pet. We'll always
love our Sammy.
